Description Duties and Responsibilities:

1. As a proctor you will be responsible for monitoring students during test sessions to ensure a secure testing environment.
2. As a proctor you will be responsible for reading exam and recording a student’s answers if it is a part of a student’s accommodation.
3. As a proctor you will obtain examinations, directions for taking the examination, scan-trons, etc. from the faculty member for administering the examination to the student with the disability.
4. As a proctor you must report suspected irregularities to the Director of Disability Services and the Proctor Scheduler.
5. As a proctor, you must manage the admission to and from the testing room.
6. As a proctor, you must enforce exam rules regarding items brought into the exam area and kept at tables (must insure cell phones are off and not at tables with the student).
7. As a proctor, you must work quietly without unnecessary disruptions to test-takers yet be hyper-vigilant to the student’s behavior and needs.
8. You must report to your scheduled proctor sessions, as the student with the disability is depending on the proctor to provide a reliable means to complete his or her examination.
9. You will maintain strict confidentiality for both written and verbal formats of communication.

Requirements Job Requirements:

2. The proctor must have the ability to work in a quiet environment and assist students with minimal interruption.

3. The proctor must be willing to read exam to student and record student’s answers if it is a part of a student’s accommodation.

4. The proctor will assist in distributing and collecting test material.

5. The proctor must have some prior experience working with persons with disabilities.

6. The proctor must have good oral and written communication skills.

7. The proctor must be willing to travel to multiple campuses throughout the Berkeley College’s system (New York). This travel can be done via public transportation or the use of the staff member’s personal vehicle. All transportation expenses are paid according to the college’s travel policy.

8. The proctor must possess ability to use good judgment.

9. The proctor must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include morning and afternoon assignments.

10. The proctor must maintain exceptional customer service and professionalism at all times while interacting with staff, faculty, and students.

11. The proctor must be able to use the Microsoft computer software package to include: Word, Outlook, and Excel.

12. The proctor must have a high school diploma and have some college credits towards an associate degree and/or a bachelor’s degree.
