Position Summary
This is a limited term position for a 1 year term.

The Manager, Agriculture Competitions & Special Event Presentations, is a leader within the Agriculture and Western Events department, responsible for leading multiple professionals focused on agriculture programming competitions & special event presentations.

Agriculture competitions include Team Cattle Penning, Heavy Horse Show, World Series of Cutting, Heavy Horse Pull, Junior Steer Classic, Dairy Classic, 4-H on Parade and World Stock Dog Championships to name a few. Event Presentations include programs such as Ag-tivity in the City, Draft Horse Town, and Aggie Days.

Focus for this position will be on the development and execution of new programming initiatives that fulfills the strategic objectives of the organization.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Lead the competition and event presentation business goals to meet or exceed programming expectations and ensure the execution of these programs is to the highest level of standards.
Lead a dynamic team and ensure engagement through collaborative working groups including employees, volunteers, competitors/exhibitor, and industry partnerships
Develop long-term strategic objectives for the Agriculture and Western Events department
Develop, engage, and implement competitive and special event programs aimed at enhancing and ensuring we are aligned with the community
Act as a leader to various internal and external stakeholders, creating engaging environments of professionalism and mutual respect
Provide leadership to various internal and external stakeholders, creating engaging environments of professionalism and mutual respect.
Work collaboratively across the organization cross-organizational management groups to identify and drive new programming.
Represent the company at various business/industry functions to continually develop and strengthen industry relationships, increase knowledge of emerging industry trends, and promote the Calgary Stampede brand, its venues and services.
Prepare and deliver presentations to a variety of both internal and external clients and stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with volunteer committees through support of the staff liaisons to support the overall business objectives
Develop, manage and maximize the investment of operating and program budgets and related reporting requirements.
Negotiate agreements and proposals in order to maximize business resources, and ensure effective use of budgets
Proactively monitor industry developments and emerging trends by staying on the forefront of the latest agriculture trends and explore/test new, innovative initiatives


The ideal candidate will be able to drive programming outcomes and be leadership-oriented. He/she will have a degree/certificate in Business Administration, Communication-Marketing, Education, Agriculture or a related field from an accredited university or college, as well as the following:

At least 8-10 years of related experience in the agriculture marketing, competition events and livestock exhibition and showcases.
Strong execution and delivery skills.
Excellent organizational and presentation skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
A working knowledge of EBMS system is an asset.
