Quality Assurance Technician to become the newest member of our team. The position will be located in Portsmouth, NH.

Position Summary:
This incumbent is responsible for the inspection of all finished seafood products. The incumbent participates in many quality assurance functions while supporting production and R & D personnel.
Dimensions:
The incumbent is primarily responsible for making sure safe, wholesome and quality products are produced.
Environment:
Incumbent reports directly to Quality Assurance Supervisor.
Specific Accountabilities:
·
Product sensory evaluations, weight, count and defect checks.
·
Monitor product quality per company specifications.
·
Flesh (pickups) and label verifications.
·
Evaluate CN/Graded product per USDC scoring sheets.
·
Building security audit.
·
Scale verification, Thermometer calibration and HACCP point monitoring.
·
Monitor and enforce GMP’s.
·
Finished product micro sample collection, documenting and shipping.
·
Iodine, quaternary sanitizer concentration verification.
·
Pre op inspection and release of lines after sanitation.
·
Verifying and organizing HACCP, production and specification paperwork.
·
Allergen and various types of micro swabbing.
·
Interfacing with company software (JDE and BOSS) verifying inventory status codes.
·
Reviewing C of A’s from various suppliers.
·
Assisting R&D group through all new product runs and tests.
·
Maintain laboratory and equipment.
·
Monitor and address Plant Food Safety, Quality and personnel safety hazards.
·
Verify function of company issued metal detectable medical.
·
Interaction with other employees in accordance with company standards.
·

Assure adherence to GMP and company policies.

Assure compliance with regulatory requirements (FDA, USDC, GMP, Pesticides, etc.).
Job Specifications:
·
4 year degree in food science or a related field (desirable).
·
4 years experience in QA / QC.
·
Ability to communicate and team up with other departments in problem solving, training, and corrective actions.
·
Knowledge of HACCP programs, GMP’s and SOP’s.
·
Knowledge of critical FDA and USDC regulations.
· Individual must attend USDC HACCP training and achieve a Certificate of Completion issued by the USDC.
·
Familiar with regulatory, third party, and customer audits.
·
Ability to work independently.
· Ability to learn specific computer software programs, knowledge of excel, word, etc.
·
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
·
Flexibility required to cover overtime as needed for vacations and peak periods.
Working Environment:
The noise level in the office work environment is moderately quiet while the plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. Allergens found inside the plant include: fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and coconut.
