Summer Academies Social Media Intern

POSITION LOCATION:  Vermont

Located on two campuses in Vermont, Middlebury Interactive Languages Summer Academy offers middle and high school students the opportunity to study Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, or Spanish with skilled language educators in an intensive four week immersion environment.

Social Media Interns are responsible for creating engaging blog and social media content around the daily activities of the Academies.  

This is a residential position. All employees will be provided room and board. They will have two full days off during the 4-week session. All employees pay for their travel to and from program locations. Transportation from local airport and train station is provided at both the beginning and the end of the program by MIL. Housing is not provided for family members.

As the Summer Academies Social Media Intern, YOU WILL . . .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accomodations may be made to enable individualswith disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Observe classes and activities in the summer Language Academies and draft daily blog posts to update families on activities at the Academy
  • Take extensive, high-quality photos of classes and activities for each language and post to the blog photo galleries
  • Respond to parent comments on social media
  • Work with the Summer Academy staff to plan blog posts and photos of special guests, field trips and activities on campus
  • Assist the Marketing team with coordination of photographer and videographer visits to campus throughout the program
  • Support International Academy staff with selection, editing, and uploading of photos and creation of blog posts
  • Manage on a daily basis our business accounts for Facebook and Twitter for each Language Academy, posting statuses with accuracy
  • Post frequent photos with applicable hashtags to Instagram business account
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge and utilization of the Academy policies and procedures to create a safe, supportive, rewarding environment for students and staff

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and/or other social media platforms
  • Experience using content management systems such as Drupal
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop

Certificates and Licenses: none required

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organization and operations skills
  • Ability to work under own direction
  • Highly refined communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency
  • Ability to pass required background check

  • Fluency in a foreign language is a plus
