Summer Academies Office Manager 

POSITION LOCATION:  VERMONT

Located at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, Middlebury Interactive Languages Summer Academy offers middle and high school students the opportunity to study Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, or Spanish with skilled language educators in an intensive four week immersion environment.

The Office Manager works closely with the Summer Site Manager to ensure the quality and success of the operations of the Academy on a day-to-day basis. The Office Manager works closely with the Director of Residential Life and Language Directors to support their academic and program needs.

This is a residential position. All employees will be provided room and board. They will have two full days off during the 4-week session. All employees pay for their travel to and from program locations. Transportation from local airport and train station is provided at both the beginning and the end of the program by MIL. Housing is not provided for family members.

As the Summer Site Office Manager, YOU WILL . . .

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge and utilization of the Academy policies and procedures to create a safe, supportive, rewarding environment for students and staff
  • Oversee and delegate various logistical and operational aspects of running a site office
  • Provide administrative support with efficiency, organization, and positive spirit
  • Supervise Program Assistants in daily operational tasks

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

Directly supervises 3-5 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Work closely with site leaders (Summer Site Manager, Director of Residential Life, Language Directors) and promote cohesion and teamwork with staff
  • Coordinate communication with staff, faculty, students, parents, and Administrative staff
  • Participate in Academy evaluations
  • Coordinate with Site Manager to set up and take down of site
  • Work with Administrative staff to manage site budget
