Teacher of the Visually Impaired
To provide direct and consultative services to and for students with visual impairment in order to maximize growth in all developmental areas. To assist agency staff and families in accessing resources, services and obtaining information about visual impairments.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree and certification from the NY Department of Education as a Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired. Additional certification in Orientation & Mobility preferred, but not required.
