Habiiitation Specialist II-Staff Support Specialist-Browncroft
Utilizing a person-centered approach, facilitates the personal growth and development of each individual through advocacy of their individual rights, program implementation and documentation, community involvement and by maintaining a nurturing, safe, healthy living environment free from abuse and neglect; and provides for the necessary areas of staff support.
.Applicant must be able to demonstrate they have achieved a Local/Regents High School diploma or Equivalency Diploma issued by a local school district or State Education Department. This achievement will be verified directly with the issuing entity. A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of employment at the Agency and have received a current satisfactory or above evaluation.
Must complete and maintain Agency-Apprvoed Driver status, certification in CPR, First Aid, SCIP-r, NYS Medication Administration and all other training mandated by OPWDD regulations.
Must have the ability and temperament to work effectively with youth and young adults who are developmentally disabled. Must be able to work in a team oriented environment, possess strong organization and communication skills including communicating effectively amongst staff, exhibit patience, handle flexibility in scheduling, etc. Must have the ability to take part in various physical and recreation activities outside the residence.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
