About Our Career Opportunity

Summit's Ancillary division, a division of Summit Medical Group, is seeking a Referral Coordinator responsible for the precertification of all Diagnostic Imaging patients prior to patient scheduled appointment and assists with other clerical duties as appropriate. This is  a full time opportunity, M-F, 8-5pm.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (List does not include all duties assigned)

  • Receives and returns phone calls to patients, other physicians’ offices, insurance companies and other offices as appropriate.
  • Completes all referral requests correctly and timely and relays information to physicians’ offices, insurance companies and other appropriate recipients.
  • Verifies patient appointment is rescheduled as needed due to complications with precertification.
  • Contacts physicians and insurance companies as needed for updates and clarifications.
  • Utilizes Allscripts appropriately to include chart viewer which ensures proper documentation in patient’s charts.
  • Maintains daily logs for job completion.
  • Advises patients of PCP protocol regarding referral process, insurance companies, patients’ responsibilities, ect. Keeps updated regarding insurance companies policies and procedures.
  • Assists with other front office functions as requested, such as scanning, answering phones, check-in, ect.
  • Performs duties in a professional manner while exhibiting a courteous and cooperative demeanor to patients, co-workers, management and the public.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures (including OSHA guidelines.)
  • Adheres to all appropriate aspects of the corporate compliance plan.
  • Posts patient charges and payments to the billing system, using appropriate codes (ICD-10 / CPT.)
  • Makes corrections to billing information as appropriate.
  • Updates patient account information continuously, so records reflect the most updated information possible.
  • Attends training and other meetings as appropriate; keeps current on revisions related to coding and computer skills.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
  • Maintains work area in neat and orderly manner.
Requirements

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma required

EXPERIENCE: Insurance Company / managed care procedural experience preferred. Experience with ICD-10/CPT coding.
