Description Position Overview:
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for, but not limited to, the accurate maintenance, oversight, and support of the product inventory in the distribution center. Their duties require the meticulous review of product counts that are impacted by the inputting of daily receiving quantities, mis-selection, out of code product, poor quality, recalled product, donations, misplaced product, poor rotation, or any other activity that would detract from the accurate accounting for all product counts. The inventory control clerk takes the necessary steps in WIMS (Warehouse Management System) to appropriately adjust counts when necessary to maintain an overall accurate inventory for each department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Uses all powered industrial equipment in a safe manner at all times while employing proper lifting techniques when moving cases
• Observes all safety rules in the completion of all tasks at all times Performs cycle counts and aisle audits to ensure accuracy with product in reserve and pick slots
• Participate in periodic full facility audits when scheduled
• Responds to discrepancies in counts with specified product, adjusting when necessary
• Resolves inventory related issues using the computer based system
• Performs slot moves of product from the computer
• Investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies relative to shorts and processes them
• Investigates excessive overflow in pick aisles and makes adjustment when needed
• Responds immediately to inquiries from Customer Service (CRIS reports), Procurement, Senior Management, and any incidents that significantly impact inventory counts
• Oversees the acquisition and isolation of recalled product due to safety/quality concerns
• Manages designated penalty boxes identifying the reason for the existence of product and utilizes all system tools to correct the problem, creating room in reserve
• Confirms that Ti-Hi and dimensions for all product is correct
• Maximizes reserve capacity by strategically moving product systemically, to accommodate the greatest cube
• Ensures that the placement of product in reserve is in accordance with all safe food handling, namely bleach stored below food goods or flammables inside the fire room; responds immediately to any non-compliance to established practices
• Communicates immediately to management any deviation to acceptable practices
• Responds to spills, dropped pallets, damaged product that would necessitate an adjustment to inventory and ensures a real-time change is made to the counts
• Maintains all established productivity standards for the position, performs value-added work at all times, and proactively seeks direction from one in charge during slow times
• Communicates any problems to somebody in charge, namely personnel, damage, or equipment opportunities.
• Perform work in a refrigerated warehouse with temperatures ranging from -20 degrees and in a grocery warehouse of up to 100 degrees


Requirements Education/Experience Required:

• Must have excellent math and computer skills; AS400 preferred
• Possess the ability to retain information such as search screens and processes
• Must be capable of acquiring certification on multiple types of powered industrial equipment.
• Must have basic computer knowledge
