Requirements Position Description:

The Marketing Operations Manager position is an exciting opportunity to create, implement, manage, and improve critical steps in the publishing process. This role is a chance to be point person to several large departments and develop creative, big-picture solutions.


Major Responsibilities:

• GALLEY/ARC MANAGEMENT: Work closely with production, marketing, editorial, art and creative services to execute and improve the seasonal galley process, including ARCs bound manuscript, and blads. Additionally, oversee digital galley processes for NetGalley and Edelweiss DRC program by managing our NetGalley requests and working with the metadata department and ebook production.
• SUPERVISE SPECIAL PRODUCTS: including autographed editions, international editions, bookclub editions, library run-ons, value editions, floor displays and prepacks. These tasks require working very closely with Sales, Production, and Supply Chain, with constant follow up on to ensure all requirements are being met.
• MANAGE EMBARGOES AND OTHER SENSITIVE INFORMATION: Work with publicity, marketing, editorial to control data from flowing out of house when necessary—cover reveals, title announcements, strict embargoes, etc. via SMP's embargo process that needs constant attention and communication between Marketing, Publicity, Editorial, Art, Sales, and I.T..
• Manage a variety of production-related tasks including but not limited to backmatter for trade paperbacks and ebooks and manage seasonal trade paperback shootdowns.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Ability to work and problem-solve independently
• Extreme attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Love of creating and flawlessly executing processes with an eye towards constant improvement
• Ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment with eye towards being proactive
• Strong Excel skills. Knowledge of Google Docs and Google forms a plus
• Ability to learn publishing information system software quickly and thoroughly


Experience Needed:

• 2-5 years’ experience in a professional office environment.
• Book publishing experience a plus, especially in production, editorial, or another department that requires use of publishing software

Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree
