Requirements

 

Macmillan Learning is currently seeking a summer Market Development Intern located in their Boston, MA office. The market development team at Macmillan Learning focuses on launching and marketing first edition textbooks and digital homework platforms for colleges and universities, as well as improving company-wide processes for market research and data collection. The market development intern will support the Director of Market Development and four Market Development Managers on key initiatives; specifically the Data and Market Insights Project and summer Market Development Summit meetings. The individual will contribute to the development of the Macmillan Learning survey/review archive, create documentation and training materials for new processes, and assist in the planning and execution of a two-day, internal marketing event.  

  • Hourly Rate: $15/hour
  • No relocation/housing assistance would be provided for this role

Major Responsibilities

Data and Market Insights Project

  • Work within our surveying systems to archive past market surveys and product reviews.

  • Develop indexes and training documentation for accessing archived materials.

  • Create company-wide training materials for standardized survey and review processes.

Market Development Summit

  • Depending on start date, assist managers in organizing and hosting the Market Development Summit taken plan in mid June.

  • Execute post-summit follow up.

  • Design marketing materials for first editions based on summit feedback.

Other responsibilities

  • Support market development managers with daily administrative tasks for their specific first edition projects, including; proofreading and editing marketing copy, entering customer data and pulling reports in our customer management system, and processing payments.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Currently in enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program graduating no earlier than May 2019

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple departments; editorial, marketing, and with offsite members of the market development group.

  • Superior planning and implementation skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite (e.g. Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets)

  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.

  • Interest in marketing, market research, or academic publishing.
