Requirements
Position Description:

Tor Teen / Starscape seeks a highly creative, strategic and motivated marketing assistant to join our team. Candidates for this entry-level position must be forward-thinking and able to assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies into full blown campaigns using the latest online and off-line marketing tactics. Successful candidates will have an ability to juggle many projects at once and to build relationships with in-house teams. Working closely with a cohesive group of friendly colleagues, candidates will play a critical role in the success of Tor Teen and Starscape.


Major Responsibilities:

• Support Associate Director and Marketing Manager in developing wide scale, integrated marketing campaigns with consumer, educational, and industry outreach
• Update the imprints’ budget, process invoices, and track seasonal marketing plan execution
• Support campaign planning for titles and authors, including executing ARC/book mailings, entering marketing plans into systems, and communicating plans to other departments
• Help coordinate all aspects of School & Library conference preparation including book orders, events, and author travel
• Assist Marketing Manager with all children’s state and national award submissions
• Help develop and create content for TorTeenBlog.com, social media, and newsletters
• Assist team in creating and trafficking materials for both Marketing and School & Library initiatives
• Help manage social media accounts

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Passion for YA and Middle Grade books across genres
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong written communication skills, in addition to an ability to speak with authors, other departments and customers with authority and tact and to represent the company well
• Working knowledge of social media platforms
• Basic ability to track budgets
• Strong organizational skills
• Willingness to learn new systems, programs and procedures as job dictates
• Travel required

Experience Needed:

• Publishing internships or bookselling experience desired but not necessary.


Educational Background Required:

• College degree or two years book industry experience
