Requirements

The Business Analyst will be a member of the Publishing Systems team within Business Systems and be responsible for representing stakeholders of our Title Management, Rights Management, and Scheduling (Smartsheet) systems. They will work closely with our Operations, Editorial, Content Management, Production Management, and Technical teams to be the liaison between stakeholders and our vendor teams who help in supporting these systems. This includes managing projects, gathering requirements, performing quality assurance testing, creating use cases and user stories, creating project plans, analyzing data, updating documentation, and assisting in the creation of both business and training documentation.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, has excellent written and verbal communicator, and applies good analysis, troubleshooting, and project management skills to their everyday activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Define scope and requirements based on client needs as well as development and system capabilities.
  • Managing new requests from start to finish including requirements gathering, technical design with Architecture and developers, testing, and production deployment
  • Become Subject Matter expert of our Title Management system and overall Title Data Model in order to support projects using this data across the organization
  • Requirements Gathering and digging deep into how data can best be used across systems especially as it relates to reporting
  • Working closing with Vendors on issues, new requests, and larger projects
  • Work between stakeholders and our Data Repository team to define requirements and advise on data points that can be used for reporting needs 
  • Acts as team lead / project manager, on projects, as assigned
  • Assists in planning and executing QA/user acceptance testing
  • As part of publishing systems team, provides general system administration and support
  • Performs testing and QA for routine system patches and updates
  • Takes lead in reporting and resolving cases with SaaS vendors
  • Acts as SME for questions related to Publishing Systems
  • Assists in administrative tasks as needed

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 3+ years combined analytical and publishing work experience
  • Working experience in documenting and managing and maintaining system functional requirements, use cases, and user stories.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system and process issues
  • Understanding of software development and implementation methodology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills
  • Understanding of the publication process, including title development and publishing supply chain.
  • Ability to facilitate large meetings using audio and video conferencing 
  • Competency using MS Office and G-Suite applications (spreadsheets, presentation)

Preferred Skills

  • Direct experience in one or more of business areas supported by the Publishing Systems team (editorial, production, manufacturing, operations)
  • Direct experience using or supporting Title Management system
  • Direct experience using or supporting SmartSheet schedules

Educational Background Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA)
