Requirements
PM- IT Software Development:

We are seeking a Project Manager – IT/Software Development to specialize in the preparation, analysis, management and budgeting of technology related projects. This individual will be responsible for ensuring projects follow standard methodologies, meet requirements and deadlines and ensure the needs of the business are met. This requires heavy interfacing with business staff and management, IT and other internal and external technical staff with a focus on successful deliverables for the business.

The project manager has the overall responsibility, accountability, and authority for managing the delivery of the projects/products according to the parameters and/or boundaries set in each Project Scope & Requirements document. The project manager is responsible for planning the project, managing the creation of the various phase deliverables, identifying and justifying the project resources, and for monitoring and reporting on the transition of the work product through all phases of the systems development life cycle. Additionally, the project manager is responsible for status and status reports on the projects for delivery to the various lines of management. The project manager will report into the Technology, Project Management Director for transparency across all Technology Projects.

The project manager will oversee projects and project teams, this includes ensuring all project activities and tasks meet corporate standards. Along with setting tasks and project priorities, the PM will be responsible for defining and documenting objectives, goals and performing project updates and reviews. The project manager will act as a central point of contact for business units for new IT requests, the evaluation of potential projects, assistance in packaged software reviews, requests for programming, and project cost estimates, and will work with business units on creating project proposals and assist in functional design specifications for proposed projects.

Related Work Experience:

Project management and oversight of IT projects including package implementations, new product /Software development, Engineering and Infrastructure projects and business implementations. The candidate must have direct experience leading a project team that includes technical staff, business staff, consultants and interface with internal management staff. The individual must be experienced at developing a team environment, motivating team members and working with company management to motivate and drive team members to achieve the goals of the project and business.

Formal Education or Equivalent:

BS or BA in computer science, business or related degree. PMI certification or Masters desirable.

Skills:

Experience and intimate knowledge of Project management methodologies including planning, resource allocations, team management and costing. Knowledge of or experience in software development technologies desirable, for ex. GUI development standards, RDMS, OO, Multi-tiered architectures, and database modeling. Must be able to manage to multiple deadlines; multiple projects; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to process model and data model as required by the projects. Be able to understand the business requirements and processes managing them to a successful, completed project and product.



Responsibilities:

• Coordinating the documentation of requirements, system specifications, vendor RFPs and vendor selection.
• Managing internal and external technology development teams
• Maintaining project schedule and resources using MS Project
• Producing meeting notes and outstanding tasks lists,
• Supporting Quality Assurance test plan writing and testing
• Supporting launch and maintenance of products and internal production tools
• Writing and tracking vendor contracts, tracking invoices against contracts
• Coordinating dependencies across multiple projects and managing stakeholders’ expectations across other departments such as editorial, media production and print production

Job Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years experience managing medium- to large-scale development projects
• Proven track record delivering projects on time and on budget
• Strong working knowledge of project management tools and processes in a technology environment
• Experience writing and translating requirements and specifications is critical.
• PMI Certified and or strong familiarity with PMI standards

Other:

Willing to travel (Approx. 10% of time).
