Requirements

Macmillan Learning is currently offering a paid internship opportunity for summer 2019. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in work related assignments, gain practical work experience, and network with employees from various departments. The Macmillan Learning Internship Program is available for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree or higher OR recent graduates within the past 3 months.

Relocation / Housing Assistance is not provided

Rate: $15/hour
Location: Downtown Austin, TX

Our Quality Assurance Engineer Intern will be responsible for QA verification and documentation of the various interactive assets that Macmillan Learning develops. QA Verification will include testing our software across various devices, operating systems, browsers, and screen readers to ensure our users have the best experience possible when learning with our tools. You will also document and create test plans for organizing the various instructions for testing the interactives. Furthermore, you will collaborate with software engineers, product owners, UX designers, and other QA engineers within an Agile environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual quality assurance testing for interactive front-end assets, including screen reader testing • Document all test cases into organized test suites
  • Create automated test scripts for use across integration points
  • Attend team ceremonies & meetings

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated (within 3 months) from a Bachelor's Degree or higher program
  • Attention to detail; specifically, has an ability to read UX designs and user stories in order to evaluate a software product for bugs and deficiencies.
  • Familiarity with frontend software development o HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Automation experience (with Selenium and Cucumber, etc.) a plus
  • Enjoys playing with online interactives and simulations in various devices and browsers; and has a knack for uncovering areas of improvement where needed.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development practices a plus
