Requirements
Position Description:

Macmillan is looking for a highly motivated individual with sales experience who is willing to learn the nuances and complexities of one of the most dynamic retail accounts. The Associate National Accounts Manager provides support in all aspects of the publishing and sales process for the Macmillan sales team servicing Amazon and Amazon Canada, both print and digital. Candidates must be willing to interact with several departments within Macmillan, from supply chain, sales operations, and fulfillment to publisher-level marketing, publicity, and editorial. Reporting directly to the Director of Amazon Sales, the associate NAM will focus primarily on Amazon, but will also act as primary liaison to two other online retailers, with the future opportunity to expand the role into fully representing 1-2 publishers to Amazon, including order solicitation and seasonal book presentations. The associate NAM will assist in all aspects of account management for Macmillan’s trade books.


Major Responsibilities:

• Attending select launch, marketing, and key title sales meetings to learn about and provide feedback on books published across Macmillan’s imprints.
• Generating weekly preorder reports.
• Working in conjunction with Macmillan’s supply chain department to track consumer demand, stock status, and Amazon backorders of published and not-yet-published books on a weekly basis.
• Planning and nominating Amazon merchandising on a monthly and seasonal cadence.
• Tracking approved merchandizing along with results of discounting promotions.
• Notifying publishers of confirmed merchandising.
• Assisting with seasonal merchandising at Amazon Canada.
• Reviewing onsite listings and metadata of key forthcoming and backlist titles to ensure optimized customer experience.
• Analyzing market-share between top accounts to highlight books where opportunities may exist.
• Creating and circulating to Amazon a biweekly newsletter of significant publicity events.
• Developing copy and presentation materials to promote Macmillan books to primary contacts at Amazon on a seasonal and monthly cadence.
• Determining print-and-bind estimates for a select portion of seasonal titles.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• A good working knowledge of computers and business software including Excel (Google Suite, Biblio3 a plus).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to write engaging descriptive and marketing copy.
• The ability focus on multiple titles, tasks and goals at the same time.
• A broad and diverse interest in books.

Experience Needed:

• 2-4 years’ publishing experience, trade sales preferred

Educational Background Required:

• College Bachelor’s degree
