Requirements The editorial assistant for social sciences media at Macmillan Learning will work directly with the editorial and production groups, providing support to several media editors for psychology and economics educational products. This includes managing turnover of content to media production, tracking project status and payments, and communicating with the marketing and sales departments about customer needs -- while being exposed to the media editorial function within educational publishing.

Major Responsibilities:

• Liaise between media editorial and sales, marketing, and production departments
• Coordinate review programs to solicit instructor feedback on new digital projects and revised versions.
• Assist media editors with project planning, development, permissions, and marketing.
• Assist marketing and sales personnel with customer-related inquiries and requests and provide copy, preliminary files, tables of contents, etc. for marketing and sales tools.
• Transmit manuscript from authors through media production.
• Ensure media projects are moving through the publishing process according to designated timelines.
• Complete paperwork and check requests, as well as correspond with payees. Oversee and update an organized system to track payment and hiring for content contributors.
• Perform clerical tasks such as copying, filing, processing invoices, handling mailings, and dealing with book project paperwork. Provide other administrative support as needed.
• Draft contracts for new vendors and work with legal to make sure contracts are recorded correctly.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Good computer skills including experience with Google Apps such as google docs, google sheets, gmail, Excel, Word, Power Point, Adobe Reader, and other programs.
• Close attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent change or unexpected events.
• Ability to work collaboratively across groups.

Preferred Experience:

• Internship or other related experience in the publishing industry or in the technology field is evaluated favorably
• Experience in educational technology is a plus.

Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor’s degree
