Sawtelle Hall is a psychiatric residential treatment center is a program initiated by the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities to serve their most vulnerable and high risk children
who may have, but not limited to, a diagnosis within the autism spectrum and may also be medically fragile. Sawtelle Hall is a co-ed residential program serving children who require an augmented level of supervision and care ages 5-14. Residents may attend the Sawtelle Learning Center, or another school program of the families' choosing, for education during the day.

Personal Assistants are expected to have a unique sensitivity to recognize and appropriately respond to clients who may have evidenced difficulties. Provide quality daily care (personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal preparation, and other related tasks) to ensure the health and safety of clients in the residence and community.

Duties and Responsibilities Include but not limited: Assist clients in meeting their individual goals and objectives as defined in their Individual Habilitation Plan. Dependent on client’s IHP, teach/support the client with the following: bath, toilet, change adult absorbent underwear and linens, grooming and dressing, and self-administration of medication. Demonstrate a basic understanding of medications, purpose and side effects. Demonstrate proper body mechanics and mobility transfer technique to prevent injuries. De-escalate potential crisis situations and if necessary be prepared to control client physically. Keep accurate and timely records.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Requirements Must be at least 21 years or older with a valid driver's license.

High School Diploma or GED, DDD relevant experience and/or personal knowledge of developmental disabilities. Skilled nursing facility is a major plus!

Preferred: Certificates in Pre-Service training, Danielle’s Law and Positive Behavioral Supports.

All new hires are required to attend a week orientation: Monday through Monday 8:45am-4:00pm, upon hire.
